Resolutions
Resolutions contatin the proposed solutions to a topic. Delegates write resolutions together during lobbying, debate them and then vote on whether to pass the resolution or not. Resolutions have to follow a strict format:
A resolutions starts with indicating the forum, the issue and the submitters.
This is followed by the
pre-ambulatory clauses (opening phrase in italics). Pre-ambulatory clauses are clauses that refer to previous actions taken on the topic, and reasons why the resolution is necessary. It indicates the reason behind the resolution. They have to start with one of the given phrases. These can be found below.
You then follow with the
operative clauses (opening phrase underlined). This is the main part of the resolution, because here you state how you want to solve the issue. Operative clauses are clauses that show what action will be taken, or what action is recommended to be taken. These also have to start with one of the given phrases, found below.
Please note that the resolution consists of one sentence. It therefore only has a full stop at the end of the last clause. Before, clauses end with a comma.
Example resolution
The following resolution is an example of what the layout of your own resolution should look like. Please note it is merely an example of layout,
not content.
